at Blakemere
Throughout the year we schedule various
events at Blakemere normally held in the Edwardian
cobbled courtyard. Our entertainment
programme is free of charge and is designed to make your visit a
more enjoyable and memorable occasion.
Events 2010:
| 17th June – 11th July | Yeoman’s Camping Exhibition: Full Camping Exhibition with 100 tents on display from various manufacturers including Peakland, Outwell, Vango, Coleman, Sprayway and Robens giving you the chance to view 'hands-on' each tent up close and personal. In addition to the substantial display of tents, there is also an on-site marquee jam packed with an array of camping equipment. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are available from 8am to 8pm to help you choose the right equipment for your next camping holiday. |

| Saturday 17th July – 31st August | Craft Activities: Paint items of bisque ware or mould with clay in The Potter’s Wheel throughout the Summer holidays; make an assortment of items with beads including jewellery in The Bead Trail; come and get crafty with lots of activities to choose from in Thimbletown from key rings, felt animals, fabric hearts, bags and more or join their ‘Learn to Knit’ classes. |
| Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th July | Countryside Fair: Following the huge success of last year’s event, Blakemere’s Countryside Fair 2010 is now a two day event. Full of fun for all the family including an Arena Time Table incorporating a Fun Dog Show, Side Saddle Displays, Chain Saw Carving and Dog Defence Display to name but a few. There will be a fantastic Food Hall and Craft Marquee, Shire Horses, Chick Handling, Alpacas’, Motor Home and Caravan Exhibit, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery and small Fairground Rides for children. Enjoy freshly BBQ’d Steak Burgers or ‘proper’ sausage Hot Dogs and our Beer Tent at this year Fair. | Sunday 26th September | Harvest Celebrations: Celebrate with us, the end of a successful harvest season and learn how to make traditional Corn Dollies in the courtyard. Local school children will have dressed our bandstand in the cobbled courtyard with sheaves of corn, leaves, flowers and berries and there will be traditional games in the courtyard. Pick up some fantastic local produce at our Farmers Market with bread, cakes, fruit and vegetable stalls, etc. |

| Saturday 16th to Sunday 31st October | Scarecrow Trail: Visit Blakemere between the dates shown and follow the Scarecrow Trail around the centre. Some are funny, others a little scary but all are made by the businesses on site. Pick up a Quiz Sheet to help you find every scarecrow and vote for your favourite one to be entered into our Prize Draw to win a luxury hamper. |
| Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st October | Halloween Celebrations & Pumpkin Picking & Carving: Join us again this year for our Pumpkin Picking & Carving in Four Seasons Garden Shop. Each day between 11am and 4pm, you can pick your pumpkin then carve it choosing from a fantastic range of stencils to make your pumpkin look really professional! Charges depend on the size of the pumpkin you choose. Join in our Pumpkin Parade and Competition on Halloween at 4pm in the courtyard. |
| Sunday 31st October | French Market: Enjoy the sounds and smells of France at our French Market with numerous stalls selling a variety of fresh foods such as cheeses, cured meats, fruit and vegetables, olives and more. Market opens at 10am and continues until 5pm, free admission.
Pumpkin Parade and Competition: Join in our Pumpkin Parade and Competition on Halloween at 4pm in the courtyard. Come dressed for the occasion – prize for best fancy dress outfit too! |

| Wednesday 24th November | Christmas Extravaganza Evening: Blakemere kicks off the festive season with our annual Christmas Extravaganza Evening starting at 5pm with Santa arriving in his sleigh to open his Grotto. This year we are planning an ‘Xmas Factor’ Carol Singing Competition for local schools, with up to £200 prize money up for grabs (phone us for more details if you would like your school to enter). The shops will have special offers and discounts available only on the evening so don’t miss out! This year we will have a Christmas Market with a variety of stalls, hot chestnuts and mulled wine stall and a Christmas Carvery in Coach House Bar and Restaurant. |
| Saturday 27th November | Christmas Garden Square Opens: We open our Christmas Garden Square with Santa’s Grotto, a snow machine showering festive snowflakes, huge Christmas tree adorned with lights, children’s Christmas craft activities area, hot chestnuts and mulled wine, fairy lights and small fairground rides. See Santa’s parade around the centre in his sleigh at 11.15am each Saturday and Sunday before parking his sleigh outside his Grotto.
Santa’s Grotto Open: Santa is in his Grotto every Saturday and Sunday between the 27th November and the 19th December at Blakemere. Make a festive wish bauble to hang on our Wish Tree before wandering through our Christmas Grotto and your private family meeting with Santa himself. Each child receives a small gift before they leave. |
| Sunday 28th November | Italian Market: This fantastic Italian Market makes are welcome return to Blakemere with a variety of stalls selling a range of gorgeous products including cheeses, wines, cured meats, breads, sweets, olives and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to pick up a special Christmas gift. Stalls open at 10am and continue until around 5pm. Free Admission. |
| Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th December | Edwardian Christmas weekend: Join us for a fantastic weekend of traditional festive celebrations. Shop owners will be dressed in Edwardian themed costumes to set the scene in our Edwardian stable block. Carol singers will perform around the Christmas tree and children can enjoy traditional games in the courtyard as well as Edwardian festive craft activities. |
| Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th December | Breakfast with Santa: Enjoy this wonderfully festive event set upstairs in our beautiful Loft Room in The Coach House. A full English breakfast is served while Santa and his Elves talk with guests at their tables. After breakfast enjoy storytelling around the tree and Santa gives each child a small gift before they leave. Santa arrives with his Elves at 9am, so be early to ensure you see them arrive. Breakfast is served from 9.15am. £9.50 per person. |

Carol Singing & Hand Bell Ringing in the courtyard: Christmas is nearly here, so why not get into the festive spirit and enjoy carol singers and hand bell ringers performing carols in the courtyard at intervals between 1pm & 4pm. And in between performances you can finish off your Christmas shopping – we all know how good that make you feel! |
